The idea of international space exploration of Russian scientist K.E.Tsiolkovsky is being realized to a considerable extend in international space station project.

The souvenir sheet is being issued on Universal Postal Union's initiative to mark the 50th anniversary of World Meteorological Organization, special institution of United Nations Organization for international cooperation in the field of meteorological research, information exchange, solution of problems related to environment.
The stamp features jubilee emblem of World Meteorological Organization. The margins of the souvenir sheet bear illustration of various natural meteorological phenomenons and meteorological satellites as well as ships and airplanes of weather service.

554. The birth centenary of Nikolai D. Psurtsev (1900-1980).

The postage stamp is being issued to mark the birth centenary of Nikolai D.Psurtsev (1900-1980) statesman and military commander.
Nikolai D.Psurtsev was army chief signal officer of the Western Front (1941-1944) during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In 1944-1946 he was deputy army chief signal officer of the Soviet Army. In 1946-1948 he served in General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces. Nikolai D.Psurtsev was Minister of Communications of the USSR from 1948 to 1975.
The stamp features the portrait of Nikolai D.Psurtsev against the background of Central Telegraph Office in Moscow.
